Harsh Music Blog Page - Choosing The Right Music For Your Media Project.

So, you have this great idea for a Film, Documentary or Media project. Everything is well planned out. You have your amazing footage, spent countless hours shooting them, going through thousands of stock footage, making sure the script is right and followed, piecing all of them together. Not to mention all the editing! You are almost done...

Now there's only one thing missing. The soundtrack. yes, the soundtrack. Most people think of soundtrack as just some background music you sing to or just some music playing in the background as filler, hence the term background music. But it's much more than that. Imagine a horror movie without the music and sound effects. Very few of us would be scared, in fact, no one, not even babies would think of it as being scary. A great soundtrack help bring the visual piece to life by complementing it. It helps tell the story and enhances the emotional quality of the film. A great soundtrack or score also help create memorable cues. For instance, it's impossible to think of the Titanic, the ship and movie, without thinking about or hearing "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion playing in your head. Even though Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love you" had been around long before the movie Bodyguard, the association of its rendition by Whitney Houston to the movie propelled it into the stratosphere. And it's almost impossible to separate the movie from the song.

Some movies like Requiem for a dream, Gladiator and the Dark Knight Trilogy inspired soundtracks and scores that completely redefined Film Music, scores and the genre. Those soundtracks were not your typical soundtrack. They were completely new, innovative and different in every way. But Most importantly, even though they weren't songs in the traditional sense, with lyrics (except for the amazing parts by Enya), they evoked a special feeling associated with the original scenes they were created for, thus embodying and triggering a special emotion whenever we hear it regardless of the medium.

My point is, when looking for a true soundtrack for your film, documentary, YouTube video or even student video project, don't just look for any "background music". As it may make or break your project. The right music can enhance your project like visual effects do. The wrong sound can totally ruin it just as bad visual effects can. Don't just settle for any music. Advertisers have figured this out a long time ago. It is highly recommended to include the search for the music at the inception of the project. It should never be an afterthought, but incorporated into the creation process. Budget wise, it's often wise to set the music budget early on to avoid being forced to going with just anything for something as important as the music.

That's why at Harsh Music, we work tirelessly to create music that evoke that special feeling, is memorable, doesn't sound like every other soundtrack or background music and fits nicely with all your media projects. Music that stands out and is unique, new sounding yet familiar. We pride ourselves in creating musical pieces that add a unique quality to your project. Not only can we edit to fit all music in our catalogue to fit your specific project through our revise to fit service; but we also compose custom special scores and themes for your Film, Documentary, Advertisement campaign, Video Game, YouTube Chanel and anything that you need music for. Simply head to our Custom Music Request page and tell us about your project and we can help! Working on a tight budget? we can work you you as well without compromising the quality of the product.
